What with preparing for a major remodel, the Lavender Festival, the remodel itself, recovering from the remodel and grand opening (whew - does that sound like enough excuses?), there just wasn't enough of me to go around.
I will try to get back into good habits.
I promise.

October 25, 2007 16:09 - Americans Realize They Are Under-Nourished
According to a survey conducted for the Council for Responsible Nutrition, almost 6 out of 10 Americans (58%) acknowledge they don't eat a balanced diet on a regular basis. This is in spite of the fact that 81% of those polled said eating a balanced diet is important.
The survey also showed that nearly half of US adults take a multivitamin at least five days a week, with 90% of those respondents saying that multivitamins help them make sure to get the nutrients they need.
Other survey results included:
More women than men took a multivitamin on a regular basis; Women were more likely to believe eating a balanced diet is important; Adults over the age of 50 were more likely to be vitamin-takers than those under fifty.

October 25, 2007 16:26 - It's Almost Halloween - Time to Break Out the Garlic!
Garlic has long had a reputation as vampire and werewolf repellent. But did you know this aromatic bulb has many other (possibly more practical) benefits?
Improves blood pressure; Helps detoxification processes; Reduces the risk of senile dementia and Altzheimer's disease; Improves natural killer cell activity; Reduces heart disease risk; Reduces incidence and growth of colorectal cancer; Stays precancerous activity; Protects against toxic effects of chemotherapy; Reduces fatigue; Protects cells; General immune booster.
Garlic has much more to love than just its taste, but if you don't enjoy the strong flavor, garlic is also available in enteric-coated form (releases in your small intestine - no taste, no burp).
Werewolves, beware!

October 27, 2007 22:43 - Why Bill Maher Can't Be On Network TV
Though I don't see TV that much, I must admit I enjoyed Bill Maher the few times I watched his "Politically Incorrect." He seems to call it like he sees it, with no punches pulled.
In this clip, he hits on our government's relationship to Big Pharma. Take a look:
What a shame that our official "health" programs refer more to drugs and medical procedures than to good old diet and exercise.
