Yes, Flu in April
April 25, 2009
Hello

Well first, my apologies for not writing sooner.

I've been a little overwhelmed with finishing out my government paperwork for the PHYSICAL Real Foods Market, adding products and pages to Real Foods ONLINE, and I've also got a big, exciting project that I can announce next week.

Here is why I'm apologizing:

I was aware that there was to be a big "Pandemic Bird Flu Drill" on April 30. With all the hullaballoo of closing the store, I couldn't remember where the drill was supposed to be held.

I do believe (conspiracy theories aside) that when our government holds disaster "drills" the real thing is not usually far behind. Sometimes on the same day (Check your recent history, if you don't believe me. You can start in September 2001).

This could be because the folks in charge have such a good grasp on what's going on in the trenches.

Whatever the reason, I really encourage you to make sure you have plenty of anti-viral and immune-boosting supplements on hand for yourself and your family.

It turns out that drills are already being held... in the US and around the world. That's a wakeup call if I ever heard one.

And now, there is an outbreak of a combination of swine flu, bird flu, and human flu in Mexico, California, and Texas (San Antonio). They have named it the H1N1 virus, and it's just a little too close to home for my comfort level.

Here's what the CDC says about it:

"Symptoms of H1N1 infection include fever, sore throat, muscle pain, coughing and shortness of breath. This can escalate into serious respiratory illness with difficulty breathing and, ultimately, death."

You can read more about H1N1 at

Here is what I prefer to use to prevent (and dare I say "treat") viruses of all sorts:

Vitamin C - large doses when exposed to illness - 2 to 5 grams a day, 1 or 2 grams daily for maintenance

shop.real-foods.net/emergen-c.php

Elderberry ( shop.real-foods.net/bluebonnet-elderberry.php ) - disables the ability of a virus to replicate itself

Plant Sterols ( shop.real-foods.net/bluebonnet-plant-sterols.php ) - modulate the immune system

Stem-Enhance ( www.stemcell-wellness.com ) protects and rebuilds your entire system by increasing your body's natural stem cells

Olive Leaf ( shop.real-foods.net/bluebonnet-olive-leaf.php ) - anti-viral, also anti-fungal and anti-microbial)

-OR-

Oregano Oil ( shop.real-foods.net/bluebonnet-oregano.php ) - anti-viral, also anti-fungal and anti-microbial

(If you purchase Bluebonnet products through Real Foods Online, please note two things: Lots of Bluebonnet is on sale, and you can get free shipping on orders of $89.95 or more. All other orders pay only $5.95 shipping.

Don't be alarmed that the site looks different - I am working with them to get you the best deals possible.

As a side note, I hope you will call me if you find "Real Foods Online" to be confusing in any way. (830.833.9515 or reply to this email)

After all, building an online store is very new to me, and shopping online may be new to you. I've done my best to make things clear for you, but as a human, I have blind spots. I've also noticed over the years that "my best" changes as I learn new stuff.

As it should.
:-)

Please take care of yourself.
And let me hear from you.

Are you having trouble with the links in this newsletter? They were working when I tested them, but they may not be "live" or "clickable" depending on your email service (If they're blue, you can click 'em).

When they are short, I don't mind typing them into the address bar, but sometimes links can get very long and complex...

Here's what you do on a PC (sorry, I don't know much about MACs).

Highlight the entire link (you can do it even if the link is longer than one line) by pointing your mouse just past one end of the link. Hold down the left mouse button and drag your mouse all the way to the other end of the link.

Let go of the mouse button. The link should be highlighted.

Now copy the link by holding down the CTRL button (bottom left of your keyboard), and pushing the C key (for "copy"). Now, take your fingers off the keys.

That makes your computer remember the link for a bit.

Next, point your mouse at the address window at the top of the page, erase the address that's in the address bar, then click to engage the cursor. Be sure to use the address bar, and not a search window, or it may not work.

Now, hold down the CTRL key again, and this time push the V key to paste what the computer is remembering, to the place you told it.

If all has gone well, the link address should be ready and waiting for you. Just hit ENTER and go.
