If you've been in to Real Foods Market in the past couple of weeks, you'll have noticed lots of changes.

Shelves have moved, products are in new spots, counters are being constructed.

And dust.

LOTS of sawdust :-)

Doug is done with his part of the cabinet-making; now we are applying "No VOC" stain and finish to the maple cabinets (we built them to match the seventy year old bird's-eye maple cabinets already in the store).

This stuff is amazing - Absolutely no smell!

I've never used it before, but I understand it holds up as well as the old, nasty, oil-based urethane. If it truly does, it will be a double bonus. Anyhow, to celebrate, our GRAND RE-Opening is set for Friday and Saturday, July 27-28.

On a not-so-happy note, the FDA is doing their thing. AGAIN.

I guess they figure if they hit us with a new scheme every few weeks, people who care about their health freedom will get jaded and quit fighting. I know I am certainly tired of hearing (and telling) about it - I imagine you are, too - but we can't stop expressing our objections.

That is, not if we want to keep the freedom to use natural (as opposed to only pharmaceutical and surgical) ways to sustain and improve health.

And we're not just talking about me keeping a small health food store open, either.

Being as the FDA is trying to classify therapeutic herbs and other foods as "controlled substances" - and with the way our laws work - it stands to reason that if WE LET THIS HAPPEN, having an herb garden in your yard will become illicit behavior.

This "guidance" written by the FDA, is evidently their response to Dr. Ron Paul's bill (HR 2117) before Congress to keep our freedom to choose what sort of treatments we prefer.

Ron Paul is running for President, you know. I believe he may have far too much integrity to be able to win, but at least by running, he will be able to bring a lot of government misdeeds to light.

Dr. Paul is running as a Republican (he's a Libertarian) and even if you are a Democrat, I STRONGLY URGE you to look at what he is about. You may not agree with everything he has to say, but he is the ONLY candidate that supports our U.S. Constitution.

And that Constitution is what gives all of us the right to be Democrat, Republican, Green, Independant, or whatever.
