We're finally moving into Fall
October 20, 2007
Hello

It's been a while since you heard from me.

Real Foods went through a huge remodeling project in July. The store looks great! We love our new cash stand and cafe area, and our new set-up.

Unfortunately though, the stress must have been too much for me. I have suffered some health issues because of it.

The good news is, I know of a great health food store that helps people get well!

One of my recommendations to myself is something I tell my own clients, something I ignored myself for too long - "You can't do everything; you can't take things so hard; you have to take time off to recharge."

Who knows why I thought I could get away with behavior I warned others about? Anyway, I'm following that advice now.

Which means, I have had to let some projects slide a bit. Sorry if it affected you in a negative way, but I decided I could only do what I could do, and nothing more.

Everyone has been very supportive, and I want to be sure you know I appreciate it greatly. Thank you all.

I have been resting more, rebuilding my system, trying to take a day off every week.

I came across something this week that has already helped me - a method for "de-stressing," and I want to share it with you.

Seven lessons from Burt Goldman (he's known as the American Monk), with a goal of raising the consciousness of one million people over the next year, and it's all free. Delivered over the internet, the costs of sending out these lessons are very low. I've only done the first one, and I already feel it helping me.

Please go to http://theamericanmonk.com/referrer.php?uid=23941 and claim your 7 free lessons (if this link isn't live, please copy it and paste it in your browser window).

Try a lesson or two at least. If you like it, pass along the address to the people you care about.

I have a feeling this may out-do "The Secret."

We CAN change the world!

If you've been in to Real Foods lately, I hope you've had a chance to meet Perla Fordyce. Perla and her family have recently moved to Blanco from Houston, and she brings a lot of gifts to the community.

Perla is a certified herbalist, and she has great instincts. I've watched her with customers, and she really knows her stuff.

You may be aware that we at Real Foods have wanted (for years!) to begin to hold regular classes on natural health. Well, Perla is also a professional public speaker, and she will lead her first Blanco seminar at Real Foods next month.

On November 8th (a Thursday) at 6:30 PM, we will hold a class on Children's Cold and Flu Prevention. This has nothing to do with flu shots (and we CERTAINLY don't recommend those to anyone), but everything to do with prevention and natural treatments.

Kids are excellent carriers of these dreaded bugs, so let's take the first line of defense and keep the little ones well!

The fee of $15 per person covers a handout, a "goody bag" with samples of product, refreshments, and a discount on products purchased at the class.

Please call the store at (830) 833-2483 to reserve a spot; space is limited. Or you can reply to this email - please give your name and phone number in your reply so we can get you registered.

It's gonna be great....

Real Foods is selling a beautiful calendar as a fundraiser for the Hill Country Alliance ( you can see what it looks like at http://www.blanco-texas.com/texas-hillcountry-calendar.html ).

The Alliance does a lot of work with conservation of natural resources; the last couple of years have been heavy on water issues and fighting unsustainable and unwise development practices.

The photos are gorgeous; they'll look great in your home or office. And it's not too early to be thinking about Christmas ;-) .

The calendars sell for $13.99. I hope you'll get yours soon!

If you've read the Blanco newspaper lately, you surely have noticed the Blanco Blue Bike project ( http://www.blanco-texas.com/blanco-blue-bike-project.html ).

It is going strong... with 30 something bikes so far. I believe there are 14 (?) bikes that have been repaired, painted, and ready for release to the public.

What we are waiting on are bike racks.

The City of Blanco has resolved to construct and install bicycle racks in several places throughout town. Currently, the only bike rack I'm aware of is at the Blanco Library. Real Foods is supposed to be beneficiary to one of the new racks. Goody!

Anyway, what with politics and procedure and all (you know the drill), there is a bit of a hold-up.

If you are so inclined, we would appreciate a call to the city office (the number is 830-833-4525... just so you don't have to look it up) to encourage them.

It's pretty wonderful the way Blanco, and the city council has just jumped on this project. Let's keep it moving forward.
