Healthy Smoothie Recipe Juice Recipes, Too
When customers ask me for a healthy smoothie recipe, I'm thinking, "Is there one that's not healthy?" I guess there are a lot of recipes out there that have sugar, candy, and artificially-flavored syrups as ingredients. Those don't even classify as smoothies, as far as I'm concerned. Here is a tasty one, full of anti-oxidants and a good bit of protein. Blueberry-Acai Smoothie1/4 cup frozen organic blueberries 1/4 cup frozen Acai berries 1 frozen organic banana, broken into chunks 1 cup organic pineapple juice 1 scoop of organic whey protein Add everything to blender and "frappe" 'til smooth. Pour into your favorite pretty glass; add a straw or spoon and enjoy.
Here is a variation on carrot juice that helps to chelate heavy metals so your body can let go of them more easily. Carrot Cilantro Detox JuiceThis is most easily done using both a vegetable juicer and a greens juicer. 2 lbs organic carrots, washed and prepared for juicing 1 clove garlic, peeled 1 small chunk fresh ginger root (about the same size as garlic) 1 fist-sized bunch of fresh organic cilantro Juice the garlic, ginger, and cilantro through greens juicer. Juice carrots.
Combine into one glass and savor. (This juice is amazingly tasty, although some people are a little scared to do the garlic. They always change their mind after the first sip. really yummy!) If you don't own a greens juicer, try putting one carrot through your vegetable juicer, and then push the cilantro down into the hopper with your tamper. Add garlic and ginger; push through. Finish with the rest of the carrots. Enjoy!
